Whisk together sugar, cornstarch, salt, milk and egg yolks in a sauce pan.
Continue to whisk on medium low heat until it begins bubbling for a couple minutes.
Remove from heat and whisk in butter and vanilla extract.
Pour into a container, cover and cool in refrigerator - it will thicken when it cools.
Add berries or serve with whipped cream - Enjoy!
