My name is Joel Boschma and as a dairy farmer I get asked a lot of questions, and one of the questions I get asked is about the feed that we give to the cows. The best way I can describe it is imagine that you had a personal chef preparing your meals for you every day in your house, and that’s kinda what we get with the cows. We work with a nutritionist who mixes these rations up for the specific nutritional needs that each cow has: the right amount of protein, right amount of carbs, everything else that a cow needs. It gets made and mixed into her feed every day according to the time of year and where she’s at in her lactation. For example: there are cows on maternity leave and they’re getting a close-up dried cow ration, which is made exactly for them.
